1John 14:18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you
It is a great blessing to have parents who love you, care about you and pray for you. I would like for all of us to think again about this blessing and thank God for the parents and especially the mothers we have, as we celebrate Mother’s Day this month. Motherhood is a blessing for both mother and child. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day. May God give you strength, health and abundant blessings.
We, as people, feel amazing compassion when we see orphans, as does God. We read in the bible that God calls Himself the Father of orphans because He has a special parental relationship with them. He himself fulfills the lack of paternal and maternal love in the lives of orphans. But there are also spiritual orphans of which Jesus Christ talked about at the end of His earthly ministry. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18). God is greatly concerned for His children and doesn’t want them to feel abandoned. That is why Jesus said, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever”.
On the Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles. This was a huge historical event not only in the lives of the disciples of Jesus Christ, but of all mankind. The Word of God teaches that the promise of the Holy Spirit belongs to all people. On that historic day, people accepted the gift of the Holy Spirit, and that day became the birth day of the Church of Christ.
I sincerely wish to greet all of you as we celebrate the Day of Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended upon us! As an orphaned child needs a mother, so we need the Holy Spirit. “Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” Romans 8:14.
With love,
