Pastors Greeting: Month of March
Acts 16:31
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household
This consistent principle threads throughout the Scripture: “You and your house”. It is therefore right to say that God loves to save entire families. He doesn’t want to miss even one person. Jesus Christ admired the personal faith of many different people who came to Him with their requests about the needs of their families and friends. Apostle Paul was impressed and the sincere faith of the young minister Timothy often came to mind. Timothy wasn’t the first in his family to be saved. His grandmother Lois, who was Jewish, heard the good news of salvation earlier, and believed in Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Her daughter Eunice, also a Jewish, became a Christian, too (Acts16:1).
So, Timothy learned the great truths of the Christian faith and was a third generation representative of a family that had believed in the Savior. In 2nd Timothy, 1st chapter, verse 5 it is said that faith lived in Lois and Eunice. It was not a rare visitor, but was a constant dweller in them. Paul was confident that Timothy was like them. Timothy would keep his sincere faith regardless of the difficulties that he might encounter because of it.
Although you cannot inherit salvation from one’s Christian parents, it goes without saying that a loving atmosphere in the family promotes faith and serves as a good example to the younger generation.
In March 2012 we will be having a special service entitled “Banner of Faith”, in order to first of all, express gratitude to the Lord for the amazing acts of faith of the older generation, our fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers. Thank you, dear ones, for your faith and faithfulness.
May God give you strength to “finish the race and keep the faith” till the end.
To the younger generation I desire that you take up the baton of faith in a worthy manner that you would finish the race victoriously with Christ.
Be blessed!
