The words “for apart from Me you can do nothing” were addressed by our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples, His followers. Please pay attention that these words were written by John in the 15th chapter where our dependence on God as the True Vine is beautifully illustrated.
“I am the Vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing”.
This doesn’t mean we are robots. We can do many things independently without asking or counseling Jesus. However, if we want to bring spiritual fruits, we must abide in Jesus. Abiding in Jesus Christ must become absolutely natural for us, as natural as a branch on vine.
A branch doesn’t fight for its right to be on vine and bear fruit; it just stays on vine and allows life to flow through it.
I would like to encourage each one of you to allow the Vine’s life juices flow in the branch, only then you will have abundance of spiritual fruits.
May God bless you!
